Our ministry
Our role with Child Evangelism Fellowship® is a support ministry. By using the gifts God has given us we enable others to serve on the front lines of evangelizing children. As a graphic designer at the CEF European headquarters in Switzerland Brent creates materials for several specific purposes:
■ Materials for evangelism. Teachers need quality visuals to make their teaching more effective. We design materials teachers will use for direct ministry. These include lesson books, visual aids, PowerPoint® and Keynote® presentations, flyers and Bible verse memory tokens. We create ready-to-use materials so those involved in direct ministry can use their time in evangelism and teaching.
■ Materials for promotion. In order to effectively promote the ministry of CEF, materials are needed to better communicate how CEF evangelizes children, how one can be involved in the work and the various literature products available. Brent creates flyers, advertisements, PowerPoint presentations, Web sites, videos, newsletters and other visual aids to promote the work.
■ Ministry development. Since CEF is a faith-based organization, we depend on the gifts and prayers of supporters. When CEF foreign missionaries return to their sending country for a furlough they present their work to supporting churches and individuals. We help staff members at Kilchzimmer by creating materials such as prayer cards, promotional books, multimedia presentations and newsletters. Brent also creates development materials for Kilchzimmer and CEF ministries in other countries throughout Europe.
■ Materials for training. As a training facility for CEF Europe, several courses are held throughout the year at Kilchzimmer. Brent creates books, lesson notes and multimedia presentations for these courses.
■ Equipping other workers. Brent has trained literature workers across Europe on the latest design and layout software. Students from more than 20 different countries have been trained at sessions in Romania, the Czech Republic, Armenia, Bulgaria and at Kilchzimmer.
■ Kilchzimmer needs. The CEF center is also a guesthouse. We have created promotional brochures, welcome cards and packets, postcards and other items to help with the general running of the guesthouse.
Along with these responsibilities, we help coordinate special events for the students during courses, help with photo needs, give recommendations to staff on projects and help set up and run the CEF European Conference, held every three years.
When we first came to Kilchzimmer Jen served as the receptionist. She took care of incoming and outgoing mail, fielded phone calls and managed the bookroom and reception sales area. Since Amy joined our family in March 2005, Jen is now a stay-at-home mom. She also writes thank you notes to our supporters. Jen comes occasionally to Kilchzimmer to help with various projects: illustration tracing, prayer letter preparations, proofreading and more.
